Sunset. Melrose, MA – July 2020

Just a few quick shots from an evening walk near Ell Pond in Melrose a few nights back. One of the truly great things about living where I do is that Ell Pond is only a few minutes’ walk away, and it is a spot that offers whoever is lucky enough to be there a bit of tranquility. And if the weather conditions are right, it offers up one hell of a lovely view.

May these photos bring you a few moments of peace, and may this blog post find you well. Be safe, everyone!

Stay At Home: The Prequel – Melrose, MA January, 2015

A little over five years ago, the New England region was the recipient of several rounds of big snowstorms, including a blizzard at the end of January -I believe it was the end of that month- that caused the governor of Massachusetts to order everyone outside of essential personnel off the roads and stay home (part of that sound familiar?). Well, unlike our recent situation, I actually did venture out to wander around my hometown of Melrose to take pictures. I figure the most the authorities would do is just roll their eyes at me (actually, the ones I encountered just waved).

The quiet that blanketed my hometown that snowy January day was slightly unsettling, but it certainly wasn’t in the same league as what I felt when walking through downtown Boston in late March or downtown Melrose itself a few days ago.

Finding myself in a rather down mood over the past few days, I decided to go back and do some work on older photos in the hopes of occupying myself with something other than the news. The following pics are the first results.

As always, I hope you enjoy the photos. I also hope you, your friends and family are all healthy and safely at home. Take care.

Thank You!

As we close out this year and…yikes…decade, I just wanted to thank everyone who has visited the blog and supported my photography. Traffic more than doubled over last year’s totals -the best year yet for the blog-, and I am very, very grateful for each and every one of you who did so and will continue to do so.

On to 2020! Happy New Year, everyone!

Sunset-Marblehead, MA 07.20.19

My favorite spot up in Marblehead was roughly ten degrees cooler than Melrose this early evening, so I hopped in the car and headed off to enjoy the sunset and get the hell out of my stuffy apartment for a couple of hours. And while it was still hot and humid up in Marblehead, ten degrees cooler right on the water made all the difference in the world.
